Terms of service

A short document, because the arrangement is simple: I run algorithmics coaching and contest preparation, and the Ometek Academy platform is the tool that organises the work between lessons.

Who provides the service

The service is provided by Kuba Ornatek, operating Ometek Academy as a sole coaching practice. I teach every lesson myself; I do not employ other coaches and do not subcontract teaching.

All contact — from a first enquiry to a complaint — goes through the contact form on this site.

What the service is

The service is two things. The first is the coaching itself — one-to-one or in a group, online or in person in Warsaw — covering programming, algorithms and preparation for the contests: the Olimpiada Informatyczna, Olimpiada Informatyczna Juniorów, Logia, the extended computer-science matura and others.

The second is access to the Ometek Academy platform: assigned problem sets, submitting solutions, my review of every submission, XP, ranks, an activity calendar, and a parent view.

I do not guarantee a contest result. Nobody honest can. I guarantee the preparation, a review of every solution sent to me, and a straight answer about where a student actually stands.

Platform accounts

Sign-up is closed — I create accounts once we have agreed to work together. An account for a student under 18 is created at the request of a parent or guardian.

An account is personal. It must not be shared, and you must not log in to somebody else's. A parent account is a view-only account linked to the child's.

The problems, write-ups and materials on the platform are there for the student's own learning. They should not be published, resold or distributed outside the course. The contest problems themselves remain the property of their organisers, and I link to the sources.

Lessons, cancelling and rescheduling

Lesson slots are booked through the calendar on the platform or agreed with me directly. A booking is binding once it is confirmed.

A lesson can be cancelled or moved up to 24 hours before it starts — the slot is then released with no consequence and we agree a new one. Cancelling later than that means I treat the lesson as held, unless the reason was illness or another genuine emergency; in those cases I decide in the student's favour.

If I am the one who cancels, I offer a new slot or refund that lesson in full.

Payment

The rate, the billing form and how often payment falls due are agreed individually before we start and confirmed in writing (a message). There is no online payment and no checkout anywhere on this site — nothing here can be bought by clicking.

There is no charge for merely holding a platform account. Platform access is part of the course.

Withdrawal from the contract

A consumer who entered into a distance contract may withdraw from it within 14 days without giving a reason. A message through the contact form is enough.

If, at your express request, the lessons start before those 14 days are up, withdrawal means paying for the lessons already held, in proportion.

Complaints

A complaint is submitted through the contact form. I answer within 14 days.

In practice I would rather it never got that far: if something is not working, or the lessons are not what you expected, write immediately rather than at the end of term.

Ending the arrangement

Either side can end the arrangement. I then settle the lessons already held; the platform account stays active to the end of the paid period and I delete it on request.

I can suspend an account if it is being shared, if materials are published against these terms, or if behaviour on the platform is directed at other students.

Changes and governing law

I notify the people affected in advance of any change to these terms. Contracts already in force are governed by the version in effect when they were made.

Polish law governs. This does not limit consumer rights arising from mandatory provisions of law.
